About the art festival
Kala Utsav is an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) under the National Secondary Education Campaign, which promotes art in education by nurturing and showcasing the artistic talents of school children at the upper primary and secondary levels in the country. The National Secondary Education Campaign (RMSA) recognizes the importance of aesthetics and artistic experiences for secondary students, as well as being organized by ssa, which plays a key role in raising awareness of India's rich cultural heritage and its vibrant diversity. In the context of teaching the arts (music, theater, dance, visual arts and crafts), the initiative is guided by the recommendations of the National Curriculum Framework 2005 (NCF-2005). Despite India’s long tradition of art and artistic practices, a similar process of identifying artistic talent in school education remains to be developed. We also have a tradition of using the arts in the learning process: the narrative tradition is an example of this. These traditions also show us the creative extension from the individual to the community, which contributes to the overall development of the society.
